PMS or premenstrual magnification?
Premenstrual syndrome is when you experience any emotional/physical symptoms, during the ten days before your period, which then disappear during or shortly after your bleed.
Premenstrual magnification is when you experience a temporary worsening of symptoms around the premenstrual time, but they are symptoms you tend to experience anyway.
This is important to distinguish because adressing the root cause will look very different. The best root cause strategy for premenstrual syndrome, is focusing on modulating the luteal-phase hormonal shift, and reducing the nervous system’s reactivity to it. The best strategy for premenstrual magnification is to treat the underlying condition, and not necessarily focus on the premenstrual shift that arises.
